For those that are confused, Perl is a web programming language. You can make a lot of money as a Perl programmer, and it happens to be something you can learn *fairly* easily just through articles and tutorials on the internet.
This is EXACTLY how I felt about high school… I was still a pretty good student, but would have been much better had I found a point to most of what I was learning.
And it’s not WHAT we learned that bothered me really - I liked learning about pretty much everything… it was having to pass ridiculously hard tests that made me want to rip my hair out on topics that were pointless to my eventual career. Learning should always be fun and relevant. There is no excuse for the education system to be the same way it was 100 years ago.

An oldie but goody. Was shown this by the guys in Superchick a few days ago.
“What happens when you play back a prerecorded synthesizer track at 48K instead of the intended 44.1K? The whole track plays back a little bit faster and at a slightly higher pitch, that’s what. A dissonant musical mess ensues, trapping the guitarist and bassist in an on-stage musical hell with nowhere to go.”

yet another hilarious moment on the Ellen show…
she is by far my favorite comedian of all time.
