Tijuana, Mexico

To all my mission trip friends if you are looking for the pictures click here.

I just got back from my week long mission trip to Tijuana, Mexico yesterday. It was an unforgettable experience! All together there were around 800 missionaries. We were stationed at what seemed to be a dairy farm outside of Tijuana.

My MAG (Tent group) and MIG (mission group) were amazing. Big shout out to Todd, Michelle, Jordan, Austin, Cindy and Andrea! The entire group of missionaries were separated into continents, then countries, then provinces. Mine was Latin America, Panama, Colon. All the different provinces were all assigned to build 1 home for a certain family.

The Colon Army family was 1 mom, 1 dad, 1 girl and 2 boys living in a 1 room shack. The house we built them has 3 rooms and a loft area that serves as the bedroom. Each MIG within the Colon army would take turns between building the house and doing door-to-door ministry. For the first few days my MIG did door-to-door ministry and it was incredible! We witnessed so many people come to Christ! Most of the people we met were so kind…one even invited us to come back to her house so she could make us lunch! All 5 of us!

Jesus did such amazing things in my heart this past week…I’m so thrilled to say I think I finally died to myself a lot. When I got back home, I started crying when I walked into my room. Not because I was sad and I missed people (that was part of it though!) but because I realized how happy I was with just the tent and the dirt and the cold showers and the peanut butter and jelly sandwiches…and I feel like my eyes have finally been opened.

If I only learned one thing from this trip it was that we are rich through Jesus - and fulfilling his plan for us - not material possessions. Before I only knew that in my head - but now I know it in my heart.
